What is DNS?

Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical and decentralised naming system for computers, like the Internet's phonebook. It includes various information with domain names assigned to each participating entity. How does DNS work?

Every IP address has been assigned to each device on the Internet uniquely, and that address always finds the connected device - like your home street address is used to see you.
